Your Support Matters
The primary goal of the Gryphon Women’s Soccer program is to provide the best student-athlete experience both on and off the field. We work to create a positive and inclusive culture that develops remarkable student-athletes from baseline to better in their thinking, competence, and character to achieve success on the field, in the classroom and contribution to our community. Our aim is that the young women that are part of our program today, will go on to be great leaders tomorrow. Your support will have a direct impact on their success as student-athletes, the program, and their futures.
As an OUA U-Sport team at the University of Guelph we receive funding from the Department of Athletics to cover base costs to run the team. We rely on fundraising for enhancements to our program to help to deliver high standards and enrich the experience so that our women’s soccer players can become the best they can be. Women’s Soccer has set a goal to raise $10,000 annually to offset costs that are essential to the success of our program.

About Women’s Soccer
The Gryphon Women’s soccer team has a long history of success. The program began in 1984-85 and to date there are over 350 alumni who have taken part. The program won a silver medal at the OWIAA Championships in 1994 and then went on to CIAU Nationals in Alberta where they placed 4th. A Silver in the OUA Championships would follow in 1999 and a bronze at the CIAU Nationals would cap off the year. In 2017 the program won its’ first ever OUA Championship followed by a 7th place finish at Nationals in Winnipeg that fall. The program has produced many OUA and U-Sports all-stars.
Each year, the team’s competitive goal is to win the OUA Championship and obtain the right to compete at the National Championships. To qualify for the national championship tournament, the team must play in the OUA title game for the chance to get to Nationals. Each year the road to the OUA playoffs begins with a strong recruiting class and 2023 is no different.
