Your Support Matters
The primary goal of the Women’s Lacrosse program is to provide the best student-athlete experience both on and off the field. By creating a positive, inclusive culture that focuses on developing the student as an athlete, a scholar and a member of the community, our hope is that the young women that are part of our program today, will go on to be great leaders tomorrow. Your support will have a direct impact on their success as student-athletes and on the program.
OUA Varsity teams at the University of Guelph receive base funding from the Department of Athletics that covers league-related costs such as league fees, officiating and some travel. Programs must rely upon student-athlete fees and fundraising efforts to meet the rest of their operational needs. To minimize the financial impact on student-athletes, Women’s Lacrosse has set a goal to raise $10 000 annually to offset costs essential for the success of our program.
Make an Impact
Funds raised will be used to purchase:
- Sport-Specific Strength and Conditioning Programming for the 2024 Off-Season: $1900
- Shot clock for new rule changes – mandatory for the 2026 season – $2500
- New uniforms with the proper gryphons logo: $3600
- Cost for off-season season facility use: $1000
- Equipment costs (balls, collapsible lacrosse nets): $1000
About Women’s Lacrosse
The Women’s Lacrosse team at the University of Guelph has existed since 1996. This year’s team is comprised of 24 phenomenal and dedicated athletes; deserving of the best programming possible.
Each year, the team’s competitive goal is to win the OUA Championship, held at the end of October. This past season, the Gryphons WLAX team took home a bronze medal; their first podium finish in 12 years! With big goals in place and some exciting changes ahead, the Varsity Women’s Lacrosse Team continues to work hard for their first ever 1st-place finish.
