Your Support Matters
The primary goal of the Women’s Hockey program is to provide the best student-athlete experience both on and off the ice. We work to build and maintain a sustainable, progressive culture that guides our program to become National Championship contenders every year. We aspire to be ambassadors and advocates for equity, women in sport, and mental/physical wellbeing. We value the experiential learning that varsity athletics provides and are grateful for the work and sacrifice of the pioneering women and allies who have fought, and continue to fight, to grant us more opportunity than they ever had. Your support has a direct impact on the success and growth of our student-athletes and our program.
The Department of Athletics covers most of our day-to-day operational expenses, but we rely on student-athlete fees and fundraising to meet the rest of our program’s needs. To minimize the financial burden on our student-athletes, Women’s Hockey has set a goal to raise $27,000 annually to offset costs associated with enhancing our student-athlete experience year after year.

About Women’s Hockey
The Gryphon Women’s Hockey team has a long history of success. Established in the early 1920’s, the program is consistently a top ranked team in the country, winning its first National Championship in 2019. The 1966-67- & 1994-95 Women’s Hockey teams are members of the Gryphon Sports Hall of Fame.
Each year, the team’s competitive goal is to win the USports National Championship Golden Path Trophy. To qualify for the Tournament, teams need to earn a spot in the McCaw Cup finals. Each year the road to the McCaw Cup begins with a strong recruiting class and we are welcoming 5 new Gryphons to our women’s hockey family this fall. Our goal is to finish first in our division, earning home-ice advantage for at least the first 2 rounds of playoffs before competing for the McCaw (OUA Championship) Cup, and qualifying for the USports National Tournament hosted at the University of Saskatchewan from March 14-17, 2024.
