Your Support Matters
The primary goal of the Swimming program is to provide the best student-athlete experience both in and out of the pool. We work to create a positive and inclusive culture that focuses on developing the student as an athlete, a scholar and a member of the community. Our aim is that the young adults that are part of our program today, will go on to be great leaders tomorrow. Your support will have a direct impact on their success as student-athletes and on the program.
U SPORTS Varsity teams at the University of Guelph receive base funding from the Department of Athletics to cover costs such as travel, accommodation, coaching, meet fees and some equipment. In order to enhance our program, we rely on student-athlete fees and fundraising to meet the rest of our program needs. To minimize the financial burden on our student-athletes, The Swim Team has set a goal to raise $20,000 annually to offset costs that are essential to the success of our program.
Make an Impact
You are so important to the success of the Swim program! Your donation will be used to:
- Purchase starting system including software and plunge starters ($3000)
- Purchase 2nd camera for underwater video and stroke analysis ($1000)
- Supplement salary for a F/T assistant coach ($10,000)
- Purchase iPad for race video and analysis at competitions ($1000)
- Long course pool rental time ($2000)
- Covering pool costs for Gryphon Swimming’s biennial Training camp ($3000)
About Swimming
The Gryphon Swim team has a long history of success, with hundreds of Gryphons and coaches as alumni of the program.
Each year, our team is looking to provide the opportunity for more gryphons to represent us on a national and international stage. With our many successes during the 2022-2023 season including Overall Divisional Champions, a Women’s 3rd place finish at OUA Championships as well as Female Coach of the Year for Head Coach Carey-Payne, we are in a great place moving forward into an Olympic selection year.
