Your Support Matters
The primary goal of the Men’s Basketball program is to provide the best student-athlete experience both on and off the court. We work to create a positive and inclusive culture that focuses on developing the student as an athlete, a scholar and a member of the community. Our aim is that the young men that are part of our program today, will go on to be great leaders tomorrow. Your support will have a direct impact on their success as student-athletes and on the program.
U Sports Varsity teams at the University of Guelph receive funding to cover each team’s operational needs. To enhance the student-athlete experience we rely on student-athlete fees and fundraising. We raise approximately $20,000 annually through camps and our Annual Golf Tournament and have set a goal of raising an additional $40,000 this year to meet the program’s needs.

- Contribute to full time Assistant Coaching ($30,000)
- Enhanced competition – travel to exhibition competition ($10,000)
About Men’s Basketball
The Men’s Basketball program has long been a competitive team dating back to the National championship in 1974!, and subsequent National silver medalists in 1990,1991 and 2003! The team were OUA champions in 1990 and silver medalists in 2003. Many All-Canadians and OUA All-Stars developed through the program but more importantly countless young men have grown and gone onto great careers!
These past years have been challenging with the effects of covid and slowly getting back to the normalcy of a regular season. We take tremendous pride in our graduation rate and connection to our alumni network for our student-athletes upon graduation.
This past year, the second half of the season saw the team win 8 of 10 beating three top 10 teams enroute to a great road playoff victory! The OUA has grown with tremendous parity and will continue to be the toughest and deepest conference in the country!
